Barry Reece has more than 20 years of experience in the cosmetics and personal care products industry. During his tenure at Mary Kay Cosmetics, he held key positions in both research and development and international business development. As a scientist with the research and development team, he managed the claims substantiation laboratory, where he was responsible for the development and execution of all claims substantiation studies carried out in support of the various product lines. He also regularly presented his work at scientific meetings and published articles on in vivo and in vitro efficacy methods development. Barry later transferred to Mary Kay’s European region to be manager of European operations, where he was responsible for the launch of Mary Kay operations in England, Germany and the Czech Republic.
Barry’s formal training is in biophysical claims substantiation and, accordingly, he is responsible for having established RCTS’ instrumental, expert grading, and consumer perception claims substantiation program. Barry is considered an expert in this field and his advice concerning claim substantiation study design and execution is sought by cosmetic, personal care and pharmaceutical clinical scientists throughout the world.
Barry is responsible for day-to-day management of RCTS’ clinical operations, recruiting and quality control. He is either the principal investigator or the sub-investigator on RCTS clinical trials.
Barry earned bachelors and master’s degrees in microbiology from the University of Texas at Arlington and an MBA from the University of Dallas. He is a member of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists and several other industry organizations.
